Julia Desmet

Julia Desmet is a fourth-year undergraduate student at California State University, Long Beach, pursuing a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Chemistry. Her background in sports sparked an interest in concussions and the effects brain injuries can have on athletes both during and beyond their athletic careers. Through her involvement with the Bickart Lab, Julia hopes to explore how injury and everyday experiences shape brain health, as well as how people navigate health claims in an age of misinformation. Beyond research, she continues to explore her interest in health and the human body by volunteering in the Same Day Surgery Unit at the Long Beach VA and serving as a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Human Anatomy at CSULB.
